Hairstyle photo montage looks unnatural? What to check

Woman Hairstyles

Troubleshoot a hairstyle try-on in Hairstyles: check scale, rotation, camera angle and visible edges to decide what to adjust and when to use another photo.

Identify one specific problem first

If the new hairstyle feels out of place, do not change every setting at once. Look at the whole montage and name the main symptom: the hair is too wide, the crown tilts differently, there is a second outline or the face seems to be viewed from another angle. Open the original portrait beside the result in your gallery. This helps separate a feature of the photo from a placement error. Save the current version, then investigate one cause at a time so you can tell which adjustment helped.

The head looks too large: check the scale

If the hairstyle extends far beyond the temples and creates an unusually wide crown, make the sticker slightly smaller. Hairstyles lets you resize and rotate hairstyle stickers. Use the forehead and both sides of the face as reference points rather than judging only by hair length: a long style does not necessarily need a larger sticker. After resizing, check its position again. If the crown looks reasonable but the sides still do not fit, the selected hairstyle shape may be the issue rather than its scale.

The hair leans the wrong way: check rotation

Compare the direction of the head with the added hair. On a slightly tilted portrait, an upright sticker can look disconnected from the face. Rotate it a little at a time, checking the forehead and temples after each change. Do not align the hair with the photo’s edge when the head itself is tilted. If rotation makes one side fit while the other moves noticeably out of place, stop. More rotation may only shift the problem. Keep the best intermediate version and check the camera angle next.

Only one side fits: compare the viewing angles

Rotating a sticker within the picture does not change facial perspective. If the portrait is almost in profile but the hairstyle is shown from the front, resizing or turning it cannot make those viewpoints identical. A selfie taken from above or below can create the same mismatch. Try a more front-facing portrait or another hairstyle that visually agrees with the source photo. This is a limitation of the montage, not evidence that the real haircut would be unsuitable. Avoid judging the style from a clearly misaligned version.

There is a second outline: check the original hair

Examine the areas around the ears, neck and shoulders. Hair from the original photo can extend beyond the sticker, creating a second length or extra volume. Enlarging the sticker to cover every strand often makes the whole head look disproportionate. A different portrait with the hair pulled back and the face uncovered is a more useful starting point. If the added hairstyle is cut off by the photo’s edge, choose a wider source image. Resizing cannot recover hair or space that was never included in the photograph.

The shape fits but looks pasted on: check the light

Notice whether the face is in deep shadow while the sticker hair appears brightly lit. Strong colored lighting or a heavily processed portrait can also make the difference more obvious. Try a photo with soft, even lighting or another hairstyle. Avoid hiding the issue with accessories and text: they can distract attention but do not correct the mismatch. This app creates a sticker-based montage; do not expect it to reconstruct lighting automatically or calculate exactly how the hair would look in real life.

Check the correction and know when to stop

Compare the saved version with the new one on the same portrait. Is the face recognizable, the crown proportional and the hairstyle clear of the frame’s edges? Inspect a large view in your gallery, then a smaller preview to judge the overall outline. If an adjustment improves one area but spoils two others, return to the earlier version or change the source photo. Save the clearest result as a visual idea. Even a carefully aligned sticker cannot predict a real haircut; discuss hair density, texture and styling options separately with a hairstylist.
